7 Weeks

Mohs is slowly learning to be more assertive, so I worry less about him getting lost in the background of clanging dishes, crazy toddler antics and bicycle jibber-jabber.  he has a very distinctive "meh, meh" cry (whereas P was more of a "knee, knee" that reminded me of Monty Python).  I haven't managed to catch him sticking his lip out yet, but it will melt your heart.

thankfully, he's a sweet, good-natured little baby, and is just starting to get interested in having something in his hands to grab/throw around.  this is on the rare occasion that his brother allows him to hold something for more than 1 minute before declaring it "MINE!"  Mohs is a good sharer.

Mohs also tolerates bathtime well.  this is good because he still has quite a bit of hair, mostly growing on the top/back of his head, that gets greasy.  still dark, and no sign of curls.

6 Weeks

Mohs continues to be the perfect baby, except better.  here's 59 seconds of a typical afternoon with Mohs:

at about 11 1/2 pounds, he now smiles back when you smile at him -- best trick ever.  and when he's screaming and it seems nothing will calm him down, he will stop at the sound of Panzer's evil laughter.

5 Weeks

Mohs is spending his fifth week of life catching up on recruiting news and getting pumped up for the Clemson Tigers' 2012 football season!  now that there are 2 Ruda boys up and coming, the team knows it needs to impress, as it would break Mommy's heart if either chose to go anywhere else...

Mohs is also developing his music taste -- it does not include old school hip-hop, but turn up the Free Bird because he loves wiggling (and sleeping) to 70s rock.  even when Panzer is preying.

he's finally starting to grow eyelashes and eyebrows.  and his intense looks are broken up frequently with silly smiles ... he particularly loves when you blow raspberries at him.  <3

1 Month

I've quickly learned how difficult it is not to compare your kids -- not because I'm trying to decide which is better, but because it is crazy how different and similar they can be.  so, here's round one of MVP -- Mohs vs. Panzer.

Mohs @ 1 month

Panzer @ 1 month
only one thing is certain -- they are both hungry.

4 Weeks

Mohs continues to fatten up nicely, looking more and more like a real boy, and less like a garden gnome, every day.  I was momentarily sad when I realized that he had outgrown his newborn clothes ... then I remembered that they only go up to 8 lbs and he was only 3 ounces short of that at birth.  so in actuality, Mohs is rather svelt.  he has loooong chicken legs and loooong monkey arms -- he can almost touch his hands above his head already (although I suspect this will change if he develops the same fat head Panzer has).

Mohs has maintained his dark hair so far, and most of it grows on the top back of his head and sticks up all fluffy when he's freshly bathed; I call it his tailfeather.

Aaron and I are debating whether and when Mohs' eyes will turn.  they are the standard blue-grey of birth now (and I look forward to them turning brown soon!)  and here he is doing what he does... wiggling.

Day 26

yesterday, Mohs learned, at a Mary Kay party hosted by nurses, that his complexion had a slight unnatural yellowish tinge.  turns out he has a very mild case of completely normal breastfeeding jaundice.

BUT he also got a surprise weigh-in:  Mohs is exactly 10 pounds of perfection.  (or, as his shirt wisely notes, a "rookie sensation.")
